Border Protection

You’ve seen it all on TV, where

  morons, who don’t believe they

have to actually abide by the laws of

a country like everyone else, try to

bring in anything from a parrot to a

  palm tree, hidden in their

  underwear.

Well, even those who thought they

might like to try a Postpack instead,

trying to bluff it through Customs

are also in for a rude awakening.

Thanks to a fleet of new Fiat

Ducatos starting their tour of duty

  with the Australian Customs

  Service, cargo detection of illegal

  substances, plants and pests has

just got a whole lot easier, and capture of criminals a whole lot more guaranteed.

Australian Customs operations extend far further than simply performing a meet and greet of incoming tourists at our major ports.  Cargo handling terminals have a full time official presence from Customs personnel with X-Ray detection equipment and drug sensitive machines ready to round up the baddies.  But, not every cargo terminal or rural airport can justify the expense of sophisticated detection equipment being put in place on a permanent basis.
