The quest for lower fuel consumption and the legislative demands of lowering exhaust emissions has resulted in billions of dollars being spent on making engines more productive, in power and torque, and also much more fuel efficient. But the advantages to the environment go much further, and the new engines are also much greener when it comes to reducing pollution. Sure, there’s a long way to go until we are no longer dependent on fossil fuels for transport, but we’ve actually come a long way in a short time. The introduction of electric vehicles and greener vehicles, in general, in Europe and in North America has been fast tracked through Government support. Users of electric vehicles in some countries are exempt from annual vehicle registration charges, city congestion taxes, toll road fees and even parking meter fees. At this stage the Australian Government has done nothing to support the introduction of this new technology, and, despite considerable rhetoric on the subject, its performance in this area has been woefully inept. We are also extremely proud to announce that ECOcar has been selected by Virgin Blue as the motoring magazine available for guests to the Virgin Blue Lounges across Australia. Virgin Blue CEO, John Borghetti, is a true car enthusiast and an avid ECOcar reader himself, so when the subject of motoring magazines in the lounges became a hot topic, he suggested ECOcar would be an obvious choice. As global interest in ECOcar continues to increase you can now access each issue and download a digital version direct to your laptop, desk top or i-Pad. What a breath of fresh air. (I know there is a pun in there somewhere) I can actually buy a Motoring magazine that writes to the average motorist out there. I have for many years bought and read one of the most well known motoring magazine on the Australian market. Many years ago it wrote about cars that the average Australian could afford. These days however I am finding that I only read about one third of the publication as I am tired of reading the next instalment of the ongoing soap opera of the finer details of the performance attributes of Ford FPV, Holden HSVs etc. If not that it is a detailed test of some extremely expensive import that will probably sell a little more than a handful of cars in Australia. So far i have read your magazine articles completely. Not just a percentage of it. Thank you for marketing a publication that is geared to the more average of us who are probably looking for a comfortable. economical car that is large enough for our needs. You have also proven that one does not need a fuel guzzling, mobile block of flats to pull a boat or caravan. There is a 4WD on the market that uses a 2.2 litre engine with more than adequate torque for the job.
Thank you again. I wish you every success in your new publication. I cannot wait for issue six. JD
