Welcome to issue number 6 and the largest ECOCar we have ever produced.
We have features galore about the latest entrants to the ECOcar scene, including the petrol and diesel versions of the VW Golf hatch and to cap that off we have a full drive of the latest VW, the Golf wagon. If it’s the SUV market that interests you we’ve also got the first road test of the latest Hyundai iX35, and it’s a cracker. We haven’t forgotten the LPG market and in this issue we drive the XR6 Ford Falcon E-gas sedan and it’s a real surprise. Excellent handling, great ride comfort, all the space of a large sedan but with the economy of running costs similar to vehicles half its size. The Toyota Camry Hybrid could become one of the most significant locally manufacture cars on our market. Check out the first drive by Richard Robertson. We are also really excited that Australian and International rally ace Ed Ordynski has now joined us to bring his skill and experience into ECO Car. In this issue Ed drives the Mazda 3 diesel and then compares the result with a drive in Mazda’s pocket rocket the MPS, the fastest hatch in its class. Make sure you reserve your copy at your local newsagent or subscribe online by clicking on the link on this website. Thanks for joining us and of course, stay safe and enjoy the drive.

What a breath of fresh air. (I know there is a pun in there somewhere) I can actually buy a Motoring magazine that writes to the average motorist out there. I have for many years bought and read one of the most well known motoring magazine on the Australian market. Many years ago it wrote about cars that the average Australian could afford. These days however I am finding that I only read about one third of the publication as I am tired of reading the next instalment of the ongoing soap opera of the finer details of the performance attributes of Ford FPV, Holden HSVs etc. If not that it is a detailed test of some extremely expensive import that will probably sell a little more than a handful of cars in Australia. So far i have read your magazine articles completely. Not just a percentage of it. Thank you for marketing a publication that is geared to the more average of us who are probably looking for a comfortable. economical car that is large enough for our needs. You have also proven that one does not need a fuel guzzling, mobile block of flats to pull a boat or caravan. There is a 4WD on the market that uses a 2.2 litre engine with more than adequate torque for the job.
Thank you again. I wish you every success in your new publication. I cannot wait for issue six. JD
